Bestselling Author & Writing Trainer Shrinit Badiyani was invited for a speaker session to give ‘Guidance on Writing Books & Writer’s Career Options’ to the writing aspirants from Gen Z.
The guidance session was held by the Debate & Literary Society (DLS) of NM College, held on the 21st of September 2024 at the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai.

With the rise in the professional avenues under the umbrella term content industry yet the current irony of content crises in India, the young aspirants from Gen Z wish to shoulder the responsibility to bridge the gap & make a career in the creative writing field. Interestingly, the Debate & Literary Society organized a guidance session on demand by such writing enthusiasts who have the will, the creativity & the talent but need more of a roadmap & training for understanding about story & novel writing.
The session also focused on the career options for those willing to pursue writing as a full-time or part-time profession from being the avid book readers & secret diary writers that they are currently!

Shrinit guided these students with his mentoring techniques & interactive style to imbibe & nurture the writing basics by striking up a conversation with the students & discussing their thoughts.
He then shared a practical ’15-week write a novel’ model that can act as a roadmap to plan & execute to kickstart your first novel & finish it in as early as 4 months. The model talked about recognizing your favourite genre, knowing the conflict of your story, creating your own story world & characters, knowing the famous ‘3-Act structure’ & the Rasa Theory from the Indian legendary guide the ‘Natyashastra’.

The session also included an elaborate discussion and a Q&A round with the future talents of India about the career options as a writer & impact of artificial intelligence (AI) which is the talk of the town for professionals in all fields.
Shrinit gave a detailed explanation classifying writing careers under ‘AI Averse & AI Positive career options’ wherein content writing, copywriting and proofreading careers may have AI replacing humans while the longer formats like writing books, scriptwriting for films/OTT & ghostwriting of novels/films shall be AI Positive.
AI shall act as an invaluable tool when used wisely while it isn’t capable of giving what the human mind can for these writing formats & with the quicker delivery expected using technology, there will rather be more opportunities for writers under these options soon.

The 90-minute long session ended with students clearing their specific doubts relating to the story ideas they created & legalities involved in creating spin-offs from existing famous novels. Also, a dialogue started about the declining originality in the content world by a few who have already worked as interns in content writing & PR agencies. It ended by discussing ways to bring a positive change to the current scenario.
